Palms Australia will be hosting Focus Workshops around the country for people interested in volunteering overseas or otherwise contributing to a just, sustainable, peaceful and interdependent world.
Each Focus Workshop provides an opportunity for anyone who has ever considered volunteering their skills to reduce poverty, to consider practical and philosophical details of such an endeavour.
Expert facilitators guide participants through sessions aimed at exploring their motivations for development work and provide a framework based in development theory and Catholic social teaching from which to view different opportunities.
Participants also learn what it takes to volunteer cross-culturally, what international volunteering involves and what to do next if they are interested in working in Asia, Africa or the Pacific.
These workshops are also perfect for people considering a cross-cultural Encounter or other short-term visit or wanting to improve the contributions they make locally to global justice.
Focus Workshops will be held in Mittagong and Melbourne. Dates are as follows, though interested parties should register their interest by contacting Palms Australia online or by phone on (02) 9518 9551.
Mittagong: Saturday 27th March
Melbourne: Saturday 17th April
