Five of the faithful forge friendships afield

We plan to have five more program participants on assignment overseas before the end of the financial year (June 30).

Four have just completed their preparation including our recent 8-day residential Orientation Course. One will be returning to the overseas community that she left due to the impact of COVID 19 in 2020 and 2021. We anticipate that in the near future many more new and returned program participants will be heading to overseas placements with the returning availability of international travel.

Madeleine is heading to Atabae, Timor-Leste, to assist local organisation, Friends and Partners with Australia and the local parish with their community English program and grant application and reporting processes.

Malcolm will also work with Friends and Partners with Australia in Atabae, Timor-Leste, to help build the skills and knowledge around livestock management of local farmers as well as support other developmental measures within the agricultural sector.

Sister Frances will work alongside three local teachers at St Joseph School at Mae Ramat in Thailand, teaching English to Thai students as well as providing additional English language learning opportunities for the many current dormitory students from Myanmar who would otherwise be living in more remote Thai camps.

Michele will be returning to an organisational development placement with the Community Learning Centre in Balibo, Timor-Leste and will be taking along her daughter Anjelica who will be helping to market a local eco-tourism cooperative enterprise ‘Balibo Trails’ as well as teaching English within the local community.
