What are the Millennium Development Goals?

Palms Australia is one of many organisations, governments and agencies working towards achieving the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs). To find out more about these goals and how Palms contributes to achieving them, visit our “MDGs” section.

In this section of the website, each Development Goal is outlined along with some examples of the type of work Palms volunteers do to assist communities achieve the goals on a local level.

The Millennium Development Goals were agreed upon in 2002 as admirable and achievable targets, which in cooperation the world could achieve by 2015. The overall aim of the program was to halve world poverty (from 1990 levels) by 2015.

There is still a long way to go to achieve many of these goals, but Palms Australia remains committed to working with our partners to reduce poverty in sustainable and appropriate ways.

Palms’ introduction to the MDGs can be accessed via the menu at the top of the page or via links on volunteer profiles.
