Preparing students for a changing world

October 18 @ 5:00 pm - 7:00 pm AEDT

Holding back the tide: Students repair the sea-wall on Tarawa
Holding back the tide: Students repair the sea-wall on Tarawa

Teacher Bridget Kennelly‚Äôs world changed completely in January 2019 when she moved from her community in Jamestown, SA, to take up a placement mentoring the teachers of Immaculate Heart College, on the island of Tarawa in Kiribati. This year, COVID-19 restrictions brought more change for Bridget and her new community’s routine.

For the people of Kiribati though, these are just the latest chapters as they continually adapt to the rising sea of change and challenge to their way of life. Looking for certainty in an increasingly uncertain world, they recognise learning as fundamental to a future beyond the waves.

Zoom in to Taborio, Kiribati on 18 October and hear from Bridget herself about the equally determined teachers and students, who value their education with passion.

This special online session is a must for those considering sharing their skills where opportunity is limited, and experiencing the hope and enthusiasm of communities looking to a brighter future.
