The Fair Trade Association of Australia and New Zealand is asking people to spend just $2 a day for two weeks to ensure their purchases protect the rights of workers.
The $2 A Day campaign encourages Australians to commit to spending $2 or more a day on Fairtrade products for two weeks as a simple act that can help tackle the poverty experienced by the over two billion people in the developing world living on less than that amount every day.
The $2 A Day campaign kicks off on Sunday, 17 October 2010 (The International Day for the Eradication of Poverty and the start of Anti-Poverty Week) running through to Sunday, 31 October 2010.
By spending just a little more, you will have a real effect on the lives of producers of coffee, tea, chocolate and other raw materials.
Palms Australia is joining with Sacred Grounds Organic in supporting this campaign and encourages our members to take the opportunity to promote a fair go for producers.
Fair working conditions are essential if we wish to Make Poverty History, and making the decision to pay a fair price to producers is an important part of this.
To participate, commit to only using fair trade products for the length of the $2 A Day campaign. You can purchase certified Fairtrade coffee and drinking chocolate online at http://www.fairtradecoffeecompany.com.au/
